Council
Officers role call
X
Reading of
the Minutes. Motion to accept the business meeting minutes was put
forward. The motion was passed by the membership.
X
A moment
of silence was held in remembrance or the victims of 9/11 and their
families.
X
Rev.
Father Sal Jordan, our new parochial vicar, attended the meeting. He
was introduced to us all and led us in the closing prayer. He spoke
about his previous assignment to a very historic church in Maryland and
his sabbatical leave.
Candidates for Membership:
X
The name
of one transfer candidate was submitted: John Steinauer who is
transferring from Council Bluffs, Iowa.
X
A motion
was made to accept him into membership. The motion was seconded and
carried. John was in attendance for the meeting.
Grand
Knight’s Report:
X
The
schedule of future Pancake Breakfasts will be October 21st
and November 11th.
X
The
Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Basket program is being planned. We
will collect food by distributing brown bags in the Atrium on November 4th
and 11th. We will sort, store and distribute the baskets
from the Utility Shed this year. Contact Tom Smith to volunteer.

Oktoberfest will be held on October 5th and 6th in
Raphael Hall. Contact Jim Lueck to volunteer.

Family of
the Month: Mark and Patty Parrish

Knight of
the Month: Don Stamegna

A 1st
and 2nd Degree will be held at Father Price Council on
September 22nd.
Treasurer’s Report:
X
The
Treasurer is investigating the possibility of establishing an account
with Ameritrust, which would pay more interest than our Wachovia
Accounts.
Financial Secretary’s Report:
X
A bill was
submitted for expenses for the BBQ Booth at the Parish Fair.
X
Additional
dues payments have been received and submitted.
X
All
payments to Supreme are up-to-date.
Trustee’s Report:
X
Bill Hast
was presented with the “Knight of the Year” plaque for 2006.
Service
Programs:
X
Capital
Towers Project was held on Saturday August 4th. Bill Hast,
Joe Halloran, Dick Dingee and Rich Gaul participated. The schedules for
the future months are October 6th, November 3rd,
and December 1st. Contact Bill Hast to volunteer.

Dave Demo
reported that Operation Lamb 2007 will be held on Sept. 21, 22 and 23
and October 12, 13, and 14. We will solicit at the Harris Teeter at
Spring Forest and Falls of Neuse, K-Mart at Strickland and Six Forks,
and Wal-Mart on New Hope Church. We will be working 2-hour sessions
this year. We need more volunteers. The schedule will be posted in the
Knightlife and on the website.

Bernie
Brown is trying to get basketballs sign by players from NCSU for this
year’s Free Throw Contest.

Business:

John
Gunther reported the Knights Bowling League is still accepting
participants. Contact John for details.

The
flagpole, which was purchased, has to be installed. No date has been
set.
X
We will be
planning the construction of the Knight’s storeroom in the Utility
Building. No date has been set.
X
Tom Smith
thanked all those who worked at the BBQ Booth at the Parish Fair.

John
Gunther reported that the beach house available for the Retreat was
available in March, also the time of our Lenten Fish/Shrimp Suppers.
After some discussion it was agreed to postpone the event until after
Easter.
New
Business:
X
A pizza
party, sponsored by the council, will be held on September 22nd
to show appreciation to the altar servers. Certificates of
Appreciation will be distributed at the event. Contact Mark Parrish
or Tom Smith if you can help.

Ernie
Beauregard proposed that the council sponsor an event called “Senior
Prom”. It would be event for those over 50 years old. It would be a
social event, not a fundraiser. He was asking for help from the knights
to run it and perhaps some upfront expenses. A motion was made for
sponsorship of the event. It was seconded and the motion carried.

John
Tardif proposed an Irish Dancers Group that could perform at the St.
Patrick’s Day Dinner. There was a discussion proposed by Ed Cody as to
whether we should have live music at the event. It was agreed that
serving food would be sufficient.

Dom
Stamegna proposed that we establish a Mentoring Program for new 1st
degree knights. One-on-one assignments between 1st degree
members and 3rd degree members would help guide the new
members through the degree process. It was agreed that we should
proceed.
