X      Meeting called to order at 7:30 PM

X      Council Officers role call

X      Reading of the Minutes.  Motion to accept the business meeting minutes was put forward.  The motion past by the membership.

X      Tom Smith announced that we received 2 new membership applications.  The applicants are Gregory Parker and Stephen Dickson.  A motion was made to accept the applications.  The motion was seconded and carried.

X      There is a correction to last month’s minutes.  The Shiner’s Circus tickets were paid for by Ernie Beauregard and he donated them to the Council.  They are free to those who wish to take advantage of them.  See Jim Lueck for details.

 

Grand Knight’s Report:

 

X      A Pancake Breakfast will be held on Sunday June 19th.  Contact Tom Smith if you can help.

X      A meeting will be held on Wednesday June 13th to discuss the new parish policy for room rental fees for the use of rooms on the parish campus.  Contact Jim Lueck for details.

X      The council will sponsor an Irish Dinner on March 15, 2008.  There is a possibility we will have Irish Dancers.  Contact Ed Cody for advance information.

X      John Gunther has offered to organize a retreat at the beach for all council members with a format that has been used in some previous years.  He is planning it for a January time frame.

X      Tom Smith is still looking for volunteers to learn the parts so that we can certify our 1st degree team.

X      Mark Parrish has proposed that we plan to sell plants and/or cut flowers for Mother’s Day 2008.  More details to come.

X      There was some discussion about the Council’s ability to provide the manpower for the Coke Booth at the Parish Fair.  Jim Lueck will contact members of the Fair Committee.

X      Oktoberfest will be held on October 5th and 6th and sponsored by the school.  We received an application for reserving the Little German Band for the event.  In the past the Council has paid the deposit.  Jim Lueck will explore our options.

X      Brian Kasprowicz, a Past Grand Knight, who moved to New York, was in Raleigh and attended our meeting.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

 

X      All outstanding bills have been paid.

X      Ed Cody reported that we paid a bill for cleaning of the hall after the Fish Fries.

 

Financial Secretary’s Report:

 

X      We have 146 recorded members.

X      We have paid Supreme according to that membership.

X      Dave Demo, Mark Parrish and Jim Lueck requested the most recent roster.

 

Service Programs:

 

X      Bill Wolf reported that a group works Capital Towers on June 9th.

X      A group of brothers worked at the Special Olympics on Saturday June 2nd , helping with the softball venue.

X      Bill Wolf reported that we have a candidate for one of the two RSVP positions this year.  His name is Patrick McLaughlin.  He is a senior at Cardinal Gibbons and he intends to enter the seminary.  His parents are members of St. Raphael’s.  We are seeking the name of a sister from Sister Dolly as the second candidate.

 

Old Business:

 

X      The necrology marker has been received for Jimmy Penny and will be placed on the plaque by Ed Cody.

X      The slate of officers for 2007-2008 were elected as follows:

X      Ed Cody reported that he received a call from Marie Vassallo, a member of the parish. She needs a ride to for doctor’s appointments on July 2nd and 6th.  Contact Ed Cody if you can help.

X      Ed Cody reported he had received a picture and a write-up for the memorial plaque for Al Ruocchio.  He will report progress at the next meeting.

X      Dave Demo reported that Operation Lamb 2008 will be held on Sept. 21, 22 and 23 and October 12, 13, and 14.  We will solicit at the Harris Teeter at Spring Forest and Falls of Nuese, K-Mart at Strickland and Six Forks, and possibly Walmart on New Hope Church.  We will be working 2 hour sessions this year.  We need volunteers.  There will be a sign-up sheet at the next meeting.

X      Bill Wolf reported that a budget for 2007-2008 would be published in the Knightlife for review and will be brought for a vote at the next meeting.

 

Fourth Degree Report:

 

X      A Fourth Degree exemplification will be held in Charlotte in October.  Tom Smith has one candidate who has applied.

X      The June meeting and installation of officers will we held at St. James in Henderson on June 16th.
