Meeting Minutes Date: May 8, 2007
X Meeting called to order at 7:30 PM X Council Officers role call X Reading of the Minutes. Motion to accept the business meeting minutes was put forward. The motion past by the membership.
Grand Knight’s Report:
X The “Traveling Gavel” was delivered from our council to St. Luke’s Council on Wednesday May 2, 2007. Representing St. Raphael’s was Jim Lueck, Bill Wolf and Dave Demo. X The Chairman for Operation Lamb will be Dave Demo for 2008. Please be expecting details soon. Bill Hast, past chairman, reported we have 15 cases of tootsie rolls at 300 pieces each. Also we have plenty of aprons and cash boxes. X The council is need of a chairman for the Oktoberfest event. Please contact Jim Lueck if you are interested. X The parish Fair will be held the weekend of September 7th. X The next Pancake Breakfast will be held on Sunday May 20th. Tom Smith is looking for 8 or 9 volunteers. X We have vouchers for the Shriner’s Circus. They cost $10 and can be redeemed for tickets at various locations. See Jim Lueck if you are interested. X All State Raffle tickets and monies were due at this meeting. The Raffle will be held at the Convention on May 19th.
Treasurer’s Report:
X All outstanding bills have been paid. X Contact Ed Cody for account balances. X We have sold about $250 worth of State Raffle tickets.
Service Programs:
X Bill Hast reported that he and three other brothers assisted at Capital Towers on Saturday May 5th.
Old Business:
X Rick Gall reported that we will sponsor a group to work at the Special Olympics at Lions Park in Raleigh on Saturday June 2nd. He has 13 volunteers. Contact him if you are interested.
New Business: X The slate of officers for 2007-2008 is as follows: Grand Knight – Bill Wolf Deputy Grand Knight – Dom Stamegna Chancellor – Bernie Brown Recorder – Dave Demo Treasurer – Ed Cody Advocate – John Harrod Warden – Gilbert Hendricks Inside Guard – Jim Welte Outside Guard – Jim Cody 1st Year Trustee – Jim Lueck 2nd Year Trustee – Vacant 3rd Year Trustee – Mark Parrish The vote for officers will be held at our next business meeting. X Bill Wolf presented the possibility of joining St. Luke’s Council to co-sponsor a concession booth at the RBC. St. Luke’s Council has done it for several years and it served to raise $3,000 to $5,000 a year, but they have been having difficulties getting enough volunteer help to man the booth. Bill will prepare a proposal for the council. X John Gunther read an email from Sister Dolly Glick. She reported that Sister Amarilis Flores Arrioja, a nun who our council had supported for a number of years through or RSVP program, will be taking here final vows. Contact John for the full contents of the email. X John Gunther made a motion that we contact Sister Dolly for the name of another sister for our support in this year’s RSVP program. The motion was seconded and carried. X Ed Cody mentioned that Alan Bizub, the parish Director of Finance, has been very helpful to us by saving us money on some of our expenditures. He made the motion that the council give Alan a gift of 1 dozen golf balls. During the discussion Tom Smith said he had some K of C golf balls and would sell them to the council at catalog price. The motion was seconded and carried. X Ed Cody made a motion that we have a St. Patrick’s Dinner in March of 2008. He as contacts with Don Hurley of Piper’s Tavern for the food preparation. The motion was seconded and carried. Ed will prepare a proposal for the event. X Ed Cody made a motion that we purchase a memorial plaque in the name of Al Ruocchio. The motion was seconded with an amendment that the plaque cost not more than $500. The motion carried and Ed will report on his findings about a plaque. X A motion was made to add Jim Penny’s name to the council necrology. The motion was seconded and passed. X Bill Wolf inquired about the Council’s First Degree team. Tom Smith reported that it had not been certified. The team is looking for a person for the DGK role. Also the team needs backups for all roles to help the team run smoothly. Fourth Degree Report:
X A Fourth Degree will be held in Charlotte in October. X The June meeting and installation of officers will we held at St. James in Henderson on June 16.

X Remember in you prayers: Nancy Miner’s father who died recently Ken Gowney, a deceased 4th Degree brother Cody Family Gilbert Henricks and his mother Tom Smith’s brother-in-law who has cancer John Harrod
