Knights of Columbus St. Raphael’s Council 9880 Meeting Minutes Date January 9, 2007
-Meeting called to order at 7:30 PM -Council Officers role call -Reading of the Minutes. Motion to accept the business meeting minutes was put forward. The motion past by the membership.
Grand Knight’s Report: -Dom Stamegna proposed that his Father, Dom Stamegna be reactivated as a member of Council 9880. The completed form 100 was presented and a vote was taken buy the membership to approve the reactivation.
Treasurer’s Report: -Ed Cody presented the Budget Summary Report, the first such report done in a number of years and highlighted the line-items for which we were in the red. The officers and membership must address the shortfalls.
Financial Secretary’s Report: -None
Trustees’ Report: -None
Service Programs: -The council free throw contest will be scheduled in the second half of February. Contact Dom Stamegna for details. He is looking for volunteers to help. -The Capital Towers Team was at Capital Towers on Saturday, January 6. Five volunteers participated. -Road Cleanup will be held on February 17.
Old Business: -Knight life was distributed by mail this month. Mark Parrish reported that more feedback was received from the direct mailings even though it is more expensive than the on-line distribution. We were reminded that our web-site was Kopf C9880.org. -Tom Smith reported the parish administration has asked us to cancel all future pancake breakfasts due to the parking problems around the church during mass times. -John Günter asked for volunteers to remove the Christmas lights from in front of Raphael Hall on Thursday January 11 at 2:00 pm. -Ed Cody reported that about ¾ of our membership have not paid their dues. It was suggested that another round of letters be sent to the membership.
New Business: -Jim Lueck reported on the mid-year state meeting in Charlotte. He also mentioned the following events - -State Golf Tournament – September 15 in Jacksonville. - -Softball Tournament – April 28 - -State Free Throw Tournament – March 10 - -4th Degree in Durham – October 20 - Durham will be the site of the State Convention this year. -Regional Deputy John Nussbaum also reported on the mid-year state meeting. He summarized comments from the membership committee meeting which asked all members to revisit the principals of the order, Charity, Unity and Fraternity, and encourage new members through our example. In addition, he said emphasis should be placed on the benefits of insurance memberships. -John Sadelback, District Deputy, reported that a 1st and 2nd degree will be held at Father Price on January 20 and a 3rd Degree will be held on February 3. The District Free Throw Contest will be held in Wake Forest on March 3 at the Factory Complex. The Council 1st Degree Team must be recertified. -Tim Whelan from Father Price Council reported that an Art Auction will be held on January 27. Detail will be published in the Knightlife. -Tom Smith asked for volunteers for the Youth Retreat sponsored by Cardinal Gibbons High School to be held at Franklin Academy in Wake Forest on March 24.
Good of the Order: -Jim Cody asked for prayers for his Father, Ed Cody. -John Harrod thanks everyone for their prayers for his brother’s mother-in-law. Her surgery was successful. _Gene Knight asked for prayers for his sister who was in rehab for a broken shoulder.
