Meeting Minutes August 8, 2006
- Meeting called to order at 7:30 PM - Council Officers role call - Reading of the Minutes. Motion to accept the business meeting minutes was put forward. Motion passes.
Grand Knight’s Report: - No new applications. - Officers meeting will be on the first Monday of each month at 7:30 pm . - Photographers are wanted for Knight’s events. - Raphael Hall will be run by parish committee. John Gunther is investigating the possibility of Knight’s sponsored bingo. - There is a K of C Insurance Agent recruitment drive. There is a $200 incentive for recommending a person for that position. Four or five positions are available. - The annual audit if available for review.
Treasurer’s Report: - None.
Financial Secretary’s Report: - 163 members. - Membership dues are now due for 2006-2007. - C. Rogers will mail membership cards.
Trustees’ Report: - None.
Service Programs: - Bill Hast reported the monthly Capital Towers project was held last weekend. Five Knights participated. - Bill Hast reported that Operation Lamb will be held the weekends of September 29th and October 6th, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Two hour shifts at Harris Teeter, Walmart and K-Mart. Unfinished Business: - A motion was made that the Council spend a max of $400 for a TV/Video combo and donate it to the RICA program. The motion passed. John Gunther will shop for the TV/Video. - A motion was made that we provide the Social Justice Committee with $599 to purchase coffee and tea to support a group which buys coffee and tea from South American farmers at a fair market price. The objective is to raise awareness of fair wages for small Latin American coffee and tea growers. The coffee and teas will be sold with a mark-up at Knight’s event (most logically pancake breakfasts) and all profits will go to the Knight’s for charitable use. The profit is estimated to be approximately $200. The motion passed.
New Business: - Clayton Rogers is organizing the Scholarship Raffle for this fall. We will stuff envelopes for mailing at the September meeting. There will be a $3000 payout this year which is inline with our profit of past years. Details will be available soon. - Clayton Rogers is reviewing the by-laws. Please contact him if you are interested in help with this worthwhile effort. - The Pancake Breakfasts will be scheduled for the 3rd Sunday of each month, with the exception of November and April. There will be no Pancake Breakfast in November and in April it will be on the 4th. - The Madonna House work is yet to be scheduled. - Dave Demo will present a sales plan for consideration at the next meeting for selling “Enjoy the City” Dining Discount books this fall as a fund raiser. He will try to get a sample book. - John Gunther will get information about staffing a booth at the RBC Center as a fund raiser. He will get a sample contract. - The State Mid-year meeting will be on January 6-8. - The 2006 Annual Golf Tournament will be in Sanford in September. - Jim Lueck presented the Grand Knight with a plaque from state which acknowledged our collection of $5,056.50 last year. - A picnic sponsored by the Fourth Degree Assembly will be held for 3rd and 4th degrees Knights and their families on Sunday August 20th at the lake at Father Price. - Family of the Month – Cody Family for support of the handicap ramp for J. Somers - Knights of the Month – All those Brother Knights who helped build the ramp (and Dan Cody too!)
Good of the Order: Prayers for Tom Smith’s father, who is in the hospital. Prayers for John Harrod and his father, who is recovering from cracked ribs.
